The 9th edition of the Open Semana Santa took place from 16-21 April in Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Spain.

The event gathered nearly 800 players who competed in Open A and Open B tournaments. After nine played rounds, four players tied for the top of the Open A scoring 7.5 points each and the tiebreak criteria determined the winners. Having the best tiebreaks, GM Murzin Volodar (FIDE, 2658) finished first, GM Lu Shanglei (CHN, 2618) came second, GM Vasyl Ivanchuk (UKR, 2604) was third, and GM Sethuraman S.P. (IND, 2548) came fourth.

Elena Rodriguez Canovas (ESP, 1834) triumphed in the Open B tournament with the score of 8 points. She was half a point ahead of Zurab Gongliashvili (GEO, 1813), Ruslan Dudkin (UKR, 1829) and Alejandro Garceran Perez (ESP, 1876) who tied for second place scoring 7.5 points each.
